August 2018 CALL TO ACTION - Part 1
As the Left continues in its opposition to President Trump, they have started to exhibit worsening symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome with every event they stage.
While there are dozens of attacks on conservative ideals and our God-given rights, as well as the complete disregard and disdain for our Constitution, this month we will focus on two issues of importance.
The first Call to Action opportunity this month is to urge President Trump to free/pardon Lt. Clint Lorance who has been imprisoned now for over 5 years by the Obama administration via a kangaroo-court conviction where evidence was suppressed and the defense was prevented from actively pursuing Clint's case during the trial. Read more about this below, and contact the President directly to free our brother-in-arms.
The second Call to Action opportunity this month is in support of free speech rights which should come into play when social media monopolies like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, et al, deign to suppress or deny content posted by known or suspected conservative sources.
Our most recent example of this is, of course, the ouster of InfoWars and its owner, author and host, Alex Jones. You may not be a fan of his work, but the mere fact that he was targeted for "hate speech" should make you shudder. After all, how long will it be before the Left calls for you to be silenced because what you believe/say is considered "hate speech" by them?
Get involved, folks - here's your chance!!
OPPORTUNITY #1 BACKGROUND FOR ACTION
1LT Clint Lorance has been sitting in a prison cell for 1,826 days for defending himself and his men during combat operations in Afghanistan.
If you ask me, this is a blemish on our Nation's character.
This Soldier should be released immediately. His criminal record should be erased. And his military benefits should be reinstated. TODAY.
I'm asking each of you to take two minutes today to contact President Trump via WhiteHouse.gov with a brief message:
Dear President Trump,
1LT Clint Lorance followed the Rules of Engagement when he ordered his men to open fire on three Afghan men riding a motorcycle right at their platoon. In fact, his split-second decision likely saved their lives.
Unfortunately, the military justice system has failed Clint and the Office of the Pardon Attorney has been sitting on his formal pardon request for more than 18 months.
Mr. President, please review 1LT Clint Lorance's case and pardon this courageous Soldier. He is an American Hero; not a murderer!
We will continue our efforts to petition President Trump to commute Clint's sentence. Considering how receptive our Commander-in-Chief is to what We the People want, let's reach out to him directly!
Thank you for your continued support of Clint and all of our Warriors.
OPPORTUNITY #2 BACKGROUND FOR ACTION
Congress passed the first antitrust law, the Sherman Act, in 1890 as a "comprehensive charter of economic liberty aimed at preserving free and unfettered competition as the rule of trade." In 1914, Congress passed two additional antitrust laws: the Federal Trade Commission Act, which created the FTC, and the Clayton Act. With some revisions, these are the three core federal antitrust laws still in effect today.
The antitrust laws proscribe unlawful mergers and business practices in general terms, leaving courts to decide which ones are illegal based on the facts of each case. Courts have applied the antitrust laws to changing markets, from a time of horse and buggies to the present digital age. Yet for over 100 years, the antitrust laws have had the same basic objective: to protect the process of competition for the benefit of consumers, making sure there are strong incentives for businesses to operate efficiently, keep prices down, and keep quality up.
Trusts and monopolies are concentrations of economic power in the hands of a few. Economists believe that such control injures both individuals and the public because it leads to anticompetitive practices in an effort to obtain or maintain total control.
These same economic policies could and SHOULD be applied to monopolistic entities (social media) in the application of Americans' enumerated Constitutional rights, to wit, the freedom of speech and expression is not to be abridged.
It's time to hold these organizations accountable for their actions in suppressing conservative speech, ideas and expressions while promoting and expanding Leftist speech, ideas and expressions.
Dear President Trump,
The social media platforms of today are actively engaged in suppressing the free speech and expression of conservative voices while promoting, advocating, supporting and expanding that of the Leftists, Progressives, and Socialists.
We do not seek to curtail their speech - we believe the 1st Amendment applies to all - but we do demand a level playing field. It's not only unfair, but dangerously anti-American and un-Constitutional that these organizations have throttled one of our primary God-given freedoms. It's time for that to end.
Under the umbrella of antitrust law, social media outlets should be scrutinized for the concentration of economic power in the hands of the few which leads to anticompetitive practices, such as we've seen with conservative speech, in an effort to obtain or maintain total control. Further, they must be penalized for a refusal to comply with equal access for all, in a manner without interfering with the free speech of all.
It is imperative for the stability and endurance of the Republic that conservative voices remain loud and clear in its defense, especially in today's society requiring us to combat the disruptive influence of the Left's rhetoric and fake news.
